An afternoon boating on the Peace River

On Friday morning I had a very special catch up with Joyce Sklapsky who worked in my classroom with me for the year when I was at Springfield Elementary. She is doing amazingly well and is so positive and making the most of life as always.

Friday night Sandy and Randy Sidoroff hosted a farwell party for me as it was nearly time for me to leave again....I took the opportunity to teach them all a new Australian game (as they recalled with fondness the games I had taught them many years ago.) After that they taught me a Canadian game - Sociables'......something I can now take home and share with you all back home.

They all kept me up till the wee hours of the morning and Sandy S stayed up even later as people waited for a taxi to get them home...

Saturday morning I was very lucky as Sandy S had arranged for her friends Jordan and Nancy to take us out in their jet boat on the river.

It was a beautiful summers day and we sped quite quickly down the mighty Peace River.

After a while Jordan made us a fire on the beach for us to cook our late lunch - a weiner roast....fancy hot dogs cooked over the open fire...yummy!

As we headed back to the boat ramp we boated under the Peace River bridges ...looks like we nearly touched them but in reality we were way down below.

It is still very cold and I have had to buy some new warm boots for when I am out and about...I will put up a photo of them soon for you to see.
