After we left Edmonton we drove for 2 hours to meet with some friends at Baptiste Lake. My friend. Cathy and her family have a cabin right on the lake.
In winter time the Lake is all frozen but in summer (like now) they can use their boat to go tubing, kayak or just have fun in the water. BUT it was too cold for this Aussie.
This is Lauren (Cathy's daughter). She has just finished her time at school and wants to come and live in Australia next year and work at the 'Best school in the Universe'.
We sat around the fire in the night time as it was getting cold...while all the thera just had a jacket on to stay warm I needed a quilt as well for my legs. The next day for lunch Cathy decided she wanted me to try Bannock - that's sort of like damper but wrapped around a pole and cooked over the fire. I had fun cooking this.
Once it was cooked we added Peanut Butter + jam. This is one my friend Ann made.
We also cooked wieners / smokies (In Australia we call these hot dogs).
An easy way to have lunch - not much mess to clean up.......
Time for us to leave the lake and head for Peace River! I am driving there with Ann and Dave and took about 3 and a half hours.
