Peace River

The view from Ann and Dave's deck...the Peace River bridge. For the students at CFS this is the bridge I was driving across back in 1997 when my car doors flew open, because it was winter and I had been through the car wash and not dried the water from the doors. As it was winter and very cold they iced up and could not stay shut.

Wow, sitting having lunch on the deck of the house and we saw this deer go walking through the backyard.....it went away quickly once it noticed me trying to take a photo.....

Out for lunch this day to the Blue Ridge...this was my French Onion Soup...check out the pastry on the top!

Cathy and I took a drive past the house I lived in here in Peace River.....nearly the same as 16years ago...just a different colour paint on the front of the house.

Over the past few days I have caught up with many people who made my time here in 1997 so special. Last Friday night Ann and Dave hosted a party for me to catch up with so many....lots of laughs and memories shared. Things I had forgottten about were recalled and discussed.

On Saturday night we went to a fundraiser for the church, Mama Mia at the movie theatre....lots of singing and dancing in the aisles. Some funny outfits as well. Ann arranged feather boas for her and I and Barb joined us for a photo!

Wow - just look at what my friend Gail saw as she was out driving this afternoon......

Baptiste Lake

After we left Edmonton we drove for 2 hours to meet with some friends at Baptiste Lake. My friend. Cathy and her family have a cabin right on the lake.

In winter time the Lake is all frozen but in summer (like now) they can use their boat to go tubing, kayak or just have fun in the water. BUT it was too cold for this Aussie.

This is Lauren (Cathy's daughter). She has just finished her time at school and wants to come and live in Australia next year and work at the 'Best school in the Universe'.

We sat around the fire in the night time as it was getting cold...while all the thera just had a jacket on to stay warm I needed a quilt as well for my legs. The next day for lunch Cathy decided she wanted me to try Bannock - that's sort of like damper but wrapped around a pole and cooked over the fire. I had fun cooking this.

Once it was cooked we added Peanut Butter + jam. This is one my friend Ann made.

We also cooked wieners / smokies (In Australia we call these hot dogs).

An easy way to have lunch - not much mess to clean up.......

Time for us to leave the lake and head for Peace River! I am driving there with Ann and Dave and took about 3 and a half hours.

Edmonton

Today in Edmonton Canada we went to the biggest Canadian shopping centre. Inside the shaping centre was all sorts of fun things to do.

This is the ice skating....they keep it really cold so the ice does not melt.

Also inside there is an indside beach - lots of people come here to swim.

The waves coming, everyone is ready!

Flight number 2

My next flight was on Friday morning and went from Brisbane to Los Angeles. It took 13hours. I watched a few movies and did sleep for some of the time. Over 300 people were on the plane - it was really full.

Packing and Getting ready

Ok, finished at CFS for a while and at home packing. Working out how many warm clothes I will need!

Just been in to have the 'toy nails'  [as the kids at CFS call them] fixed up.
